McIntosh is an iconic name in the audio world. From its roots in 1949, to powering Woodstock in 1969, and its current place in the Hi Fi pantheon, McIntosh stands apart.
Handcrafted in Binghampton, NY, every McIntosh product is designed and built to ensure a sumptuous audio, visual and tactile experience.
We’re proud to be appointed as McIntosh dealers for Brisbane, and will be building our demonstration range starting in mid-late December 2013. Our new two channel demonstration room will feature a range of McIntosh models and provide you with an ideal environment to audition your choice of components and speakers.
The heart and soul of McIntosh, their amplifiers have defined the brand for over 60 years. McIntosh produce tube and solid state amplifiers including mono-blocks, stereo and multi-channel amplifiers, integrated amps and receivers.
Here are just a few models from their extensive range:
Perhaps the most famous McIntosh amplifier is the MC275, designed in 1961 and updated regularly to present the perfect synthesis of classic design and modern technology.
A no-nonsense monoblock amp with 600W of power, the MC601 is an iron fist in a velvet glove…but if more juice is needed you could always choose the MC2KW with 2000W of power!
At 450 watts per channel, the MC452 is the most powerful McIntosh stereo amplifier and utilizes the latest advancements in circuit and cosmetic design. With the MC452, the latest circuit components are deployed in the classic McIntosh Quad Balanced design that cancels noise for impeccable audio performance.
It features the world famous McIntosh Autoformer, which guarantees your speakers will always receive the full 450 watts regardless of their impedance, while Power Guard® will prevent clipping that could damage your speakers. Unique McIntosh engineered speaker binding posts allow the most secure cable connections.
The MC302 is a two channel power amplifier delivering 300W per channel.
MA8000 Integrated Amplifier
A monumental performance. That’s what you can expect from the MA8000 Integrated Amplifier.
It combines a powerful 300 watt per channel amplifier with a full functioned preamp into one space saving unit.
C2500 Tube Preamplifier
The C2500 tube preamplifier combines the legendary McIntosh vacuum tube preamplifier circuitry with a full suite of contemporary features and technology.
A total of 15 inputs – including two dedicated phono (1 Moving Magnet and 1 Moving Coil) and five digital – offers you ample connections to keep all your legacy and modern sources connected, while six dual triode tubes will produce that romantic tube sound. The digital inputs will decode digital music at up to 32 bits and 192kHz for high resolution audio playback.
This feature packed stereo preamp lets you connect virtually any of your analog components and digital music sources – including those that play the latest high resolution formats such as DSD files – to one easy-to-use device to enjoy them all.
Enjoy your music the way you want with the versatile C47 stereo preamplifier. With a total of 12 inputs, you can connect most if not all of your music sources. It even plays many of the latest high resolution digital formats – including DSD files.
MEN220 Room Correction System
The MEN220 delivers a potent suite of Room Correction, Custom-EQ and 2-Way Crossover capabilities in one easy-to-use stereo component.
While any single feature of the MEN220 has the power to optimise the sonic characteristics of the highest quality audio systems, combining all the features can reveal a level of clarity and resolution unattainable by any other means.
The McIntosh source component range includes CD / SACD players, Blu-ray players, Tuners and Turntables.
Below are just two of their current models:
The MCD550 is a CD and SACD player with an 8 channel, 32 bit, 192kHz PCM/DSD digital to analogue conversion. The 8 channel DAC operates in Quad Balanced mode, which uses 4 DAC channels per audio channel, allowing music at all levels to be reproduced with extreme precision and elegance.
Balanced and unbalanced outputs are provided, and three digital inputs including USB allow for streaming of music from sources such as computers at up to 24 bits and 192 kHz.
The MVP 891 is an audio-video player that supports Blu-ray, DVD, CD, SACD as well as MP3, WMA, AAC etc. Separate 2-channel and 7.1 channel sections ensure optimal processing no matter the source. The rear panel ethernet connection allows for network streaming.
McIntosh Home Theatre
McIntosh does serious home theatre as well as 2-channel – with a range of multi-channel amplifiers, processors and speakers to help you create a home theatre that will effortlessly outperform the cinemas.
Here are two of our favourite McIntosh home theatre components:
The MX160 is an incredibly flexible A/V controller that is the heart of a highly capable home theatre but also does dual zone control for audio or video in a second room. Up to 12 channels are catered for, Dolby Atmos is on board and RoomPerfect equalisation ensures perfect sound in any environment, with any speakers.
The MC207 is a flexible 7 channel power amplifier delivering 200W per channel. Use all 7 channels in a 7.1 system or dedicate 2 channels for a second audio zone if preferred.
The MXA70 Integrated Audio System features a compact yet fully functional 50 watt stereo amplifier and a pair of specially designed 2-way desktop speakers. The speakers are finished in a luxurious, high gloss piano black, and achieve an unusually rich and full sized level of performance for their size.
Six inputs provide you the flexibility to connect a variety of your music sources; four of the inputs are digital and allow the McIntosh Digital Engine to decode your digital music at up to 32 bits and 192kHz for maximum analog fidelity and enjoyment.
